Figo:”I want Messi at Inter”

Former Portuguese international, Luis Figo, who is currently working on administrative tasks at Inter Milan, wants to see FC Barcelona star, Leo Messi, play under Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan.

“It’s simple. The best footballer in Europe, at this time, is Messi. He has incredible qualities and is capable of breaking down any defense. We would like to see him play for Inter one day but we also understand that such a transfer would be difficult”, concluded Figo.

Former Barca man also added that Barcelona are currently doing better than Madrid, despite the big name signings such as Cristiano Ronaldo or Kaka.

FC Barcelona has claimed 3 points with its first victory of the Champions League group stage, beating Ukranian team Dynamo Kiev 2-0 at the Camp Nou.

The game started off with chances from both sides, and it took Barça 25 minutes to break the deadlock. Some silky footwork from midfielder Andrés Iniesta resulted in a neat through-ball being played to Lionel Messi who had taken up his usual position on the right side of attack. The Argentinian cut inside his marker with two touches, set the ball up for his shot with a third touch and then beat the Dynamo keeper on his near-post.

FC Barcelona had other chances after Messi’s goal, and for a moment were left rueing their missed opportunities on the 40th minutes when Dynamo put the ball in the back of the net from a freekick floated into the box, but the linesman flagged for an offside.

After half time Barça coach Pep Guardiola replaced Iniesta with Pedro who thanked his coach for the opportunity by scoring FC Barcelona’s second goal in the 75th minute. A hard-working Zlatan Ibrahimovic passed the ball to Pedro who was lingering just inside the box and to the right of the goal. The youngster shifted the ball from under his feet, moved it to his left foot and calmly placed the ball to the far post, well passed the Dynamo keeper and into the back of the net.

The victory means FC Barcelona now sits top of the group with 4 points out of a possible 6, with Dynamo on 3 points, Internazionale on 2 points and Rubin Kazan on 1 point.

FC Barcelona contingent dressed in new Barca tracksuits, and with much less drama than previous season, left Barcelona this morning from El Prat airport and arrived in Milano at 12:30 p.m., after a trip that went smoothly despite the heavy rain that hit the city in the morning. Altogether 19 players, the coaching staff and a broad representation of management made the today?s trip.

Upon arrival at Milano, Barca’s entourage has moved to the Melia Milano hotel, where they remained an hour before attending the training.

Chygrynskiy (Ukraine-Andorra 5-0)

The central defender played the full 90 minutes against Andorra in Kiev, the match ended with Ukraine defeating Andorra by 5 goals, including 3 penalties awarded to the home side. Chygrynskiy was lively throughout the match, and even had an opportunity on goal in the second half with a shot from distance that caused trouble for the Andorra keeper.

Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast-Burkina Faso 5-0)

The Ivorian international celebrated with his team-mates the qualification of their team for the World Cup in South Africa. Ivory Coast beat the visitors five to nothing, with Yaya Toure scoring the third goal of the match. Toure played the full 90 minutes and was consistent throughout.

Ibrahimovic (Hungary-Sweden 1-2)

Zlatan Ibrahimovich’s participation in this match could not be more decisive for the Swedish National team. The Barca striker wore the captain’s armband, played the full 90 minutes, and grabbed the winning goal for his team in the last seconds.

Henry, Abidal (France-Romania 1-1)

The match leaves a bittersweet feeling for the French Striker. Thierry Henry started the match and scored the opener at the Stade de France after he followed up on a header from Gallas. However, his team-mate Escude scored an own goal shortly afterwards which set the score as a draw. Abidal on the other hand, played no minutes during the match as Raymond Domenech opted to keep the defender on the bench.

Puyol, Pique, Xavi and Sergio Busquets (Spain-Belgium 5-0)

Spanish coach, Vicente del Bosque, started the match with all the 4 Barca players in the starting line-up, and he wasn’t disappointed as his side defeated the Belgium’s with a large score-line.

Carles Puyol: Although he lacked a little pace. Puyol started the match and put on a great defending performance. He was shown a yellow card in the 79th minute with a late tackle on De Camargo.

Gerard Pique: One of the best performers on the pitch, and also got on the score-sheet with the 3rd goal. The Catalan defender is still living through a sweet moment, and last night was no exception. He was solid in defense, and showed great attacking skills after controlling the ball in the box and scoring the 3-0 for Spain.

Sergio Busquets: The player worked hard in midfield. The youth player was solid, and despite being 21 years old, he put in a veteran performance. Although he was booked in the 23rd minute for a foul on Vertonghen, he was vital for winning and keeping possession.

Xavi Hernandez: Xavi returned to give the midfielders a lesson on leadership. Xavi was the hero of the Spanish midfield, moving the ball around, making crazy passes, and feeding the Spanish attack with a typical performance of himself.

Messi, Dani Alves (Argentina-Brazil 1-3)

Lionel Messi: Barca’s star player Lionel Messi, started and played the full match last night. It wasn’t a good evening for the Argentinians as they’re qualifying problem becomes more difficult after losing against Brazil. Lionel Messi was lively throughout, and had a few shots on goal, and usually took on defenders, but he was well marked by the Brazilian defenders who give him little room.

Dani Alves: On the other hand, it was a wonderful night for the Right-back. Although he didn’t start the match, Alves came on in the 68th minute for Elano, and was very lively, and came close to scoring with a free-kick that just went above the bar. It was a good night for the Brazilian who celebrated the qualification of his country to the World Cup.

FC Barcelona latest signing Dmytro Chygrynskiy spoke of his new manager Pep Guardiola and the upcoming challenges as a new Barca player.

The Ukrainian international, who revealed that he had a nickname ‘”Chygy” while playing for Shaktar, participated in his first training as FC Barcelona player after completing the medical test this morning. The player there met Pep Guardiola and the rest of the staff.

Chygrynskiy appeared happy for the welcome received by his new colleagues and revealed the contents of his first conversation with FC Barcelona coach, Guardiola. “They have received me with affection and that made me feel felt very well. I have also talked with Guardiola about technical subjects and he explained me that he wants for me to integrate quickly and to be able to start working with the team as soon as possible”.

Asked on the insistence of Pep Guardiola on his transfer and will that mean that he will play with more pressure than usual, Chygrynskiy assured that “in a club as big as Barça all players have pressure”, but also appeared convinced that it would not cause problems: “The fact that they insisted so much is because Shakhtar and FC Barcelona have a similar philosophy in playing attacking football and basing it on possession. However, I believe the pressure will not affect me and I am prepared to face the challenge”, stated the new Barca signing, Dmytro Chygrynskiy.

FC Barcelona transfers

At around 11AM this morning the Ukrainian defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy has arrived in Barcelona to sign a contract with the Catalan club.

Chygrynskiy is set to undergo his medical on Monday morning and is expected to be officially presented at around 1:30 PM.

FC Barcelona, reportedly, agreed to meet Shaktar`s demands and will be paying 25 million euros for the Chygrynskiy transfer.

FC Barcelona won their 3rd European Super Cup after a goalless draw match won only in the extra time with a sole goal by Barca youth player Pedro Rodriguez.

Shakhtar players defended well an entire match and earned their team an extra time. With 5 minutes left to go Man of the Match Lionel Messi played a nice action with Pedro on the left side and the youngster scored a winning goal which proved to be decisive for taking the cup.
After winning the Spanish Super Cup last weekend, European Super Cup is the second title for FC Barcelona this season and 5th trophy this year.

FC Barcelona were today drawn alongside Italian champions Inter Milan in Group F of the Champions League group stage draw, thus creating two mouth-watering fixtures where both Barça’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Inter’s Samuel Eto’o will play against their former clubs.

Club president Joan Laporta, who witnessed the draw live in Monaco where Dynamo Kiev and Rubin Kazan were also allocated places in Group F, spoke about his feeling that the draw with Inter was destiny.

“Fate does these things some times, but I was convinced that we were going to get Inter,” Laporta explained. “It will be nice to see Eto’o again at the Camp Nou. Also Ibrahimovic will be back at Milan and Thiago Motta – now in the nerazzurro team – will return [to the Camp Nou]“.

Laporta is convinced that the Cameroon striker will be very motivated on his return to the stadium that was his home for 5 seasons, and feels the Culés will welcome him with open arms.

“I do not know if these types of games, [given that they are] so competitive, are the best for a tribute,” he commented. “But it is clear that we will receive him as he deserves. Samuel has given a lot for this club and Barça will always bear him in mind because he has given us many joys over the years”.

However Laporta believes that FC Barcelona will have a similarily-motivated weapon: Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“Ibra will also be highly motivated. He is a player that likes this type of challenge and knows this has to be his year in the Champions League”.

Laporta admitted that FC Barcelona and Inter will probably contest for the top spot of the group, but did not write off Dynamo Kiev and Rubin Kazan.

“I hope that Barça lead the group, but we can’t be positive about this. We will have to work hard and take into account that it will not be easy because in Ukraine and Russia it is very cold for this time of the year”.

FC Barcelona’s first group game is against Inter at the San Siro on Wednesday 16th September.

FC Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola, asserted again that Chygrynskiy is the signing that his team needs for the upcoming season.

Pep Guardiola stressed the importance of signing the Ukrainian international and valued the defender`s qualities: “Chygrynskiy has certain qualities that are hard to find in a central defender and which Barca needs for our style of play.
